ambrosi-napoli:
Prototype: A homage to my great grandfather Antonio Ambrosi.
World War 2 Naples was an impoverished city for most of its residents. Most did not have money to buy new dressy clothing such as sports-coats and suits, but instead spent money buying more practical items: trousers, overcoats, and jackets. My great grandfather Antonio Ambrosi, seeing an opportunity, started making labourers’ trousers that were used more often, such as cargo pants. These were made of heavy cloth, which made them more durable and more economical.
These trousers are modeled after simple labourers trousers of the period. I have updated the fit. It is a flat front with horizontal front pockets. There is no waistband and there are external suspender buttons. The detailings are all ‘vintage’ with deep lapped seams, with tacking stitches at stress points. The fabric is a vintage wool heavy cavalry twill.
